The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding production facilities overseas, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Toto saw North America as a growth market for Washlet bidets and toilets, as opposed to its "base" markets of Japan and China.

Origins

It is common for a group with a name such as Asia to be a prog rock band however it's actually a fairly straight forward rock band. The group started out as a group and recorded two albums - 1979's self-titled debut album, and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. But even though the band have a diverse musical background, their biggest success came in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a huge blockbuster, however it did not come without its share of issues. The record companies put the band under pressure to deliver an album that was a success or they would rescind the album. Luckily for Toto they delivered with the assistance of the smash single "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery is due to their previous experiences, as the band members had been session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to decline. David Hungate left the band to pursue a solo career. The band was dominated by drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band after drug charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.
Toto released Isolation despite the turmoil. It wasn't as popular as IV. However, the group managed to release another chart-topping album in 1992 with Kingdom of Desire. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was the first to feature a new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album is an attempt to return to the traditional sextet style and it was a more consistent, more powerful album with a sharper edge. 토토 꽁머니 of Turn Back reflected the development of the group. Drummer Bobby Kimball's increased ability to play was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work was more refined, sharper and less cloned on previous performances.
After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live show in Amsterdam that was released as a set of two CDs called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album was released a few months later, and the group went on a world-wide tour in support of it. In this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started searching through old demos and tapes in search of a new record featuring songs that had never been recorded before. It was completed in the form of a double-album called Then and Now in 2001. It was the band's first album without one single track titled "A". The album also included a previously unreleased track called "Kari-Anne".

The group also featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
